2016 Game Changers In The Cannabis Industry

The 2016 year-end review of game changers in the cannabis industry will look at some of the most significant happenings in cannabis that took place. CannaLance along with Expert Joints is stoked that you’ve rolled with us this year and we’re looking forward to an even more blazin’ and amazin’ 2017 with you.

There were several major events that took place throughout the cannabis community. There were highs and there were lows in both Canada and the US. From civil acts of disobedience to positive cannabis reform laws being passed the 2016 year in cannabis was one to remember.

Headlines Read

Some of the top stories in cannabis were covered by media giants such as the Huffington Post, Washington Post, and wearechange.org. Cannabis headlines read things such as “Cannabis science develops pain patches for fibromyalgia patients”, “This new cannabis capsule is so potent it will replace every pain killer”, “Colorado City to use 1.5 million from pot tax to help homeless” and it doesn’t stop there.

On May 12th of 2016 stories such as, “Marijuana compound removes toxic Alzheimer’s protein from the brain” were trending.  A huge headline this year was “The U.S. Government Finally Admits That Cannabis Destroys Cancer Cells and Protects Healthy Cells”. This was the year the president of the United States of America, Barack Obama, was quoted saying “Marijuana should be treated like cigarettes or alcohol”, and the beat goes on and the beat goes on, with positive cannabis headlines.

A beat of a Different Drum is being heard in that rhythm is one that is harmonious but the cannabis lifestyle Community culture and Industry for the first time in over eight decades. Not only was the war on drugs or the attempted eradication of cannabis a complete and total failure the endless amount of money spent on negative propaganda against cannabis was equally as epic of a failure.

Hemp CBD Took A Hit

It wasn’t all a winning battle for the cannabis industry. Part of this industry includes the hemp industry. Though many hemp businesses want nothing to do with cannabis in the form of marijuana they to now face the same issues as all cannabis business owners. On December 14th 2016 the U.S federal government gave clarity and affirmation without a doubt that CBD oil from hemp is just as illegal or against the law as a joint is on the federal level. These spineless as-slingers will have no trouble in prosecuting those who think they are playing.

Hemp CBD oil now has the same fate as full spectrum cannabis oil. It is my opinion that the government is doing nothing more than trying to figure out the best way possible to monetize this incredible plant extract so that they can profit from it the most like always. Unfortunately the people will continue to suffer while the powers to be play games.

United We Canna Stand Tall

Cannabis in the U.S and Canada came together on a huge scale with the two companies Mass Roots in the U.S and Aphria in Canada joining forces. Canadian giant Aphria invested $250k in the acquisition of 500,000 shares of stock in Mass Roots. This shows the momentum that’s building in the Canadian and US cannabis markets. This is only the beginning. Mass Roots has now acquired Whaxy.

As of December 2016, there are currently 8 states and the nation’s capital Washington DC in America with retail access to cannabis for adults 21 and up with valid ID and 28 states with some form of medical cannabis law in place.  Canada is rumored to legalize as early as the spring of 2017 with other rumors of retail/recreational laws being in place as early as the beginning of 2018.

The year in cannabis for 2016 was a detailed one that will surely be covered in depth by leaders in the industry as it was a monumental year in many ways. Now you have some knowledge to put in your pipe and puff-puff and pass on to the person next to you during your next safety meeting. Thanks for entertaining your brain with CannaLance and Expert Joints.

Until next time, Stay lifted buds!
